Q: What makes Biryani Bol different from all the other biryanis out there?
A: Most takeout biryanis cut corners, but at Biryani Bol, we don’t believe in fakeouts. Our biryani is dum-cooked, layered by hand, sealed with dough, and slow-fired in a clay pot, just the way it is meant to be. This is not just food, this is tradition, technique, and a whole lot of heart.
Q: What is ‘dum-cooking,’ and why does it matter?
A: 'Dum' is an ancient technique where the biryani is sealed and slow-cooked in its own steam. It’s essentially what makes biryani biryani. With dum-cooking, the flavors deepen, the aromas bloom, and the biryani truly becomes.
Q: Why is the biryani delivered partially cooked?
A: Great biryani doesn’t travel well. That’s why we cook 90% in our kitchen, and you finish the last 10% at home in your oven. This ensures that the dum-cooking process happens fresh, right before you eat, and the first bite tastes exactly the way it should be.
Q: How do I finish cooking it at home? Is it hard?
A: Not at all. Clear step-by-step instructions are provided here and with your order. All you need is an oven and about 45 minutes. No pots, no pans, no stirring. Just heat, serve, and enjoy.
Q: Do you accommodate allergies? A: We take care in our kitchens, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. For guests with severe allergies, we unfortunately cannot recommend ordering. Please note the dough seal is essential to the dum-cooking process and cannot be removed.
Q: Is the claypot real? Can I reuse it?
A: Yes and yes. We use authentic clay pots fired just for us. They’re oven-safe and sturdy enough to reuse so don’t toss it. Give it a rinse, and use it to reheat leftovers or show off on your shelf.
Q: Do you offer vegetarian options?
A: Of course. Our vegetable biryani is loaded with slow-roasted seasonal veggies and met with the same intention as its meaty counterparts.
Q: Is the biryani spicy?
A: It’s flavorful, and a bit fiery. We build heat through layered aromatics, not chili dumps. That said, if you’re extremely spice-sensitive, use your side of raita, maybe order some paratha to help cool things down.
Q: How long will it stay good?
A: Your biryani is best going through the finishing process and eaten the day it arrives, but it will keep in the fridge for up to 2 days. Cooking Instructions are here.
Q: Can I order for a party or large group?
A: Absolutely. Our biryani was made to be shared. Email us at events@uafoods.nyc for catering or bulk inquiries, and we’ll help you layer up for your next gathering.
Q: Where do you deliver?
A: Nationwide! We're available for pickup in multiple parts of NYC, but you can now find us on Goldbelly!
